NDIS Dietitians & what to expect in an initial consultation with Inertia Dietitians?

Your Dietitian consultations are always tailored specifically to meet your individual needs. We want to completely understand and get to know you, what your goals are, where you may be struggling and work together to create a plan working towards achieving your goals.

Initially we undertake a detailed history of your existing health conditions, your current physical and nutritional status and discuss your abilities and what you aim to get out of your treatment and education with us.

From here we are able to assess you accordingly. We ensure that we take you through a full assessment so that we have a thorough understanding of your health concerns and can develop a nutritional plan moving forward to assist you in achieving your goals.

We base tailored food intake advice, education and or plans, on what we need to achieve with you to meet your health goals. We incorporate the most up to date evidence in forming particular dietary food plans to ensure you attain the most comprehensive care and experience with our Dietitians.

We re-assess throughout our consultations; this allows us to see how your goals are being achieved and or where we need to work harder. This allows us to continue to tailor and refine our plans with you ensuring the most optimal outcomes.

NDIS Dietitians & The Inertia Health Group Advantage

The key advantage in working with Inertia Health Group is that we have all aspects of your allied health care covered. Our dietitians work as a collaborative health team and ensure the very best outcomes are sought out and worked towards. Our team communicates with each-other to ensure they work together, their treatment plans are integrated and that all treating practitioners are on the same page when it comes to your treatment. This reduces the stress associated with communicating and liaising with different practitioners, of varying treatment approaches, and ensures all aspects of your care are aligned and on track.

The NDIS Dietitian System

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has been one of the largest changes to the Australian health care system over the last 35 years. The NDIS Dietitians scheme helps to provide approximately 460,000 Australians aged under 65, who have a permanent and significant disability, with funding for support and services. The aim of this system is to provide the means that those with disability require, to achieve their goals and live an ordinary life.

We can currently help those who are self-managed and plan managed. We understand that it can be very difficult to navigate the NDIS process, as such we will spend time with you to establish how everything will work for you throughout your time with us at Inertia. We know there is no one size fits all when it comes to disabilities and individually tailored plans are critical to the success of the treatment. Depending on how your funds are managed, will dictate how the billing process will work for you. Our dedicated administration team will do everything they can to make it as smooth as possible, so you can focus on the goals you have set with your Dietitian.

Plan Managed Dietitians NDIS Participants

Plan managed participants just need to provide the details of the plan manager that your funding is distributed through, as well as your NDIS number and billing information. We will communicate directly with both your plan manager and support coordinator (and any other relevant health professionals) to ensure we are fulfilling our role as a part of your support team in the most effective way possible.

Self Managed Dietitians NDIS Participants

If you are self managed the process is slightly different, you will be able to pay for your appointments using your funding and we will then provide you with all required paperwork and invoices so you can keep track of everything you need for the NDIA. If at any point you require account statements or overviews of your appointments, we will be more than happy to supply these to you in a timely manner.

Portal Managed Dietitians NDIS Participants

If you are a portal managed NDIS Dietitians patient or participant all we require is your NDIS plan details and we can submit invoices through the NDIA portal. All you need to do is ensure we have a service agreement in place, and we can do the rest for you!

Specific fees for NDIS patients are set out by the NDIA so that the cost of Allied health services are standardised across Australia. The fee schedule can be found here. Our Dietitians appointment pricing falls in line with the NDIS dictated rates. The type and length of appointment you will require will be worked out with yourself and your Dietitian to ensure you can achieve your goals. We will arrange a standardised service agreement which will need to be signed and returned as per the NDIS requirements and we are then able to progress from there!

COVID-19 Update - We Are Open

Our Clinic has been classified as an essential service to the community. We assist by trying to keep people healthy as possible and out of surgeries and decrease hospital admissions. At Inertia Health Group we are working hard to keep our patients and team members as safe as possible.

Due to our strict infection control procedures we have been deemed a low risk clinic- we have all completed the government COVID -19 Infection Control Risk Course and have implemented new waiting room procedures as well as intensified our cleaning procedures completing these regularly through the day. We have also implemented a virtual health service for those who require advice or assistance and cannot attend the clinic.

We appreciate our patients doing the right thing also!
